Baby Logic 101 Lesson 4

Find endless joy in watching mommy search high and low for that missing flip flop. It's not her fault she doesn't know the best place for storing shoes is in the backrest of the computer chair.

Baby Logic 101 Lesson 3

When you open a small box and find awesome trinkets, such as paper coin roll wrappers, instantly find somewhere else to put them. Mom's shoes make a great new spot.

Baby Logic 101 Lesson 2

Anything that even slightly resembles a spherical shape is, in FACT, a ball. Regardless of what mommy calls it, it IS A BALL! I do not know what a globe is....it is a ball. What is that fuzzy thing you call a peach? ...because that is a ball and I will climb onto the couch and try to take it off of your plate 50 times while repeatedly telling you it is a ball....not a peach. The thing you call a balloon is also a ball. Watermelons, cantaloupes they are all balls. Your words mean nothing to me.

Baby Logic 101 Lesson 1

The most reasonable place to put the refrigerator magnets is IN the refrigerator next to the salad dressings.

WHOA!

Where on earth has the time gone? I remember vaguely my last posting about how any day now B could take his first real steps. That was almost 3.5 months ago now. He's very much walking and babbling on and on. His first steps came on a Sunday and a few minutes later he finally uttered his first word "mama", then I kid you not, later that day came "dada." For the longest time he didn't say mama again but man oh man has he not stopped saying dada ever...or daddy as it now is. He's grown so much. By his first birthday he knew and could baby pronounce 10 words. He's walking and almost running now and he has learned to throw...everything. He's so spunky and I feel he's going to be a funny guy, trying to make people laugh and he'll love to laugh as well. I bet he'll be a prankster, and a definite charmer. He's also going to be a handful, boy does this little being have a big personality. I love him so much each and every day, more and more. I pray every day for him, thanking God for this amazing blessing. He's recently begun doing crazy things that I've conveyed into my facebook statuses as "Baby Logic 101" I think I'll begin writing them on here as well, as a safe keeping for myself and everyone's enjoyment into the little insights of what must be going on inside that noggin' of his. I'll quickly upload the first 4. Enjoy!

Catching Up

It's been a few days since my last post and I feel withdrawals and  it's time to catch up now. My little monkey learned to clap, clap his hands 2 Sundays ago after church so I claim that new feat to our worship service. He has also learned to make his kissy sounds after watching a video of a dear friends little baby girl doing the same thing. Baby kissy sounds are super cute. (So cute they make the fact he just ground mandarin orange into my couch irrelevant) Not only those two things but he has returned to his skill of standing freely. He's so good at it now he can bend and shake his noggin' and clap while doing it. We wanted to see how long he could last and he made it though an elaborate singing of the Alphabet Song. I was elated and so proud of my strong little man. He just turned 9 months on Monday and there is no doubt in my mind he will be walking in the very near future. While this makes me happy it also breaks my heart. My tiny little baby is literally growing before my eyes. I can't believe how fast the time goes.

We had a play date with his little girlfriend yesterday and it was so fun finally watching them get to play together. Of course they weren't as interested in each other as they were in the others' toys. Kids! HA!

The beach is calling my name and I'm dying to get my sewing machine out and work on a Pinterest project and make a huge beach blanket. Oh the awesomeness of living so close to the ocean. The sand beneath my toes and the wind in my hair and the sun on my face and the cold water rushing up onto the earth...oh how I love it.

That's all for today as little monkey is trying to lay claim to the computer keys. Have a super fabulous day all. :)

The Mountain and the Hill

Sitting on the couch watching Braiden in the kitchen swing in his swing about to fall asleep. He's practicing his new trick: clapping his hands. A new trick he discovered yesterday. Not sure if he figured it out during church or not but that's when he first started so that's what I'm going to credit it to. He's so nosy trying to peek out around the back of his swing as it goes. Now he's shakin' his noggin'. Silly boy just needs to go to sleep.

I feel like today should be a pinterest and crafty youtube kind of day. But alas, there is a mountain of laundry and a hill of dishes that need to be done. Clean laundry that has needed to be folded for a week now and clutter to be put away. When it comes to being a rockin' housewife I lack the rockin' skills part. One day I'll get the whole Suzie Homemaker thing down but I'm pretty sure today will not be that day. 15 more days until my family comes to see us and I could not be more excited. My mom is absolutely fantastic when it comes to helping around the house. I don't know how she does it but I don't take after her at all. All before I get out of bed in the morning, she'll have gotten herself up, taken a shower, eaten breakfast, gotten Braiden out of bed, fed and changed him, washed the dishes, dusted and Windexed our tables, vacuumed the floors, done a few loads of laundry, cleaned the toilets, mopped my kitchen floors and saved puppies or something crazy awesome like that. She's amazing at being a housewife and mom and I couldn't ask for someone better. (Even if she didn't do all of that.) I really don't understand how she can manage her time so well when all I seem to ever do is, well, nothing. I'm generally a pretty lazy person when it comes to cleaning and would much rather spend my day browsing the internet looking for simple ways to clean and keep a tidy home. HAHA! Terrible I know! So on that note, I'm signing off to go start the mountain of laundry and the hill of dishes.

A Little Background

I have thought this after each posting and never wanted to post multiple posts in the same day so I'll do this now. My name is Rachel, my husband who I've referred to as Sailor Man up to this point his name is Matt ( I will call him Jordan though because it's his middle name and well, that's just what I call him), our sweet little B is named Braiden. He's going on 9 months old and steals my heart in the most unimaginable ways each and every day.

Jordan is a Sailor in the US Navy and Braiden was born while he was on his first deployment. The time apart was difficult but being pregnant really helped me get through that time. I knew stressing and worrying wasn't good for our sweet baby so I just didn't. I made the best of my time alone and spent as much with family back home and my best friend here in California as I could. I graduated High School in the top of my class and then went on a full ride scholarship to college into the states most sought after nursing program with hopes and dreams to finish my bachelors in 4 years work as an RN for 1-2 years an then continue on to get my masters and become a CRNA. College and high school were like 2 different worlds. I had no structure. HS was so easy and I never had to study. College I needed to study and didn't know how. I was never a partier, I didn't drink,  the most I did was stay up too late watching stupid television. I made it into the nursing program by the skin of my teeth and from then on out I had my first doses of  C and D grades. The Ds classified as failing and then I began to say goodbye to friends I started nursing school with as they advanced on an I was left behind to do the class over again. I became very discouraged but I pushed on, each semester saying I would do better. I would for a while and then I would get discouraged again as an exam came and went with a sub par grade. Fast forward a while and Jordan and I get married and he joins the Navy soon after. We move away in the summer of my Junior year of college. It would take 2 more years to get my bachelors due to the failing classes so I would in no way have my husband all the way across the country without me for that amount of time. I find out a lot of my credits wouldn't transfer so that puts me back farther once we get out here. I begin online classes to start with and then find out I'm pregnant and while I could have kept going, I didn't want anything to take precedence over the studying I would have to do and the last little bit of time I had left with my husband before he deployed. So I stopped with one class.

Long story short, that's why I'm a stay at home mommy. :) One day I'll go back to school and earn a degree in something. Each passing day I'm still unsure of what I really want to do. It changes every day, I weigh pros and cons of each dream and never settle. I don't have to right now so I won't. I'll keep dreaming and when there is one dream that I want to make a reality, I'll have my career choice. Right now, I'm working for an 8 month old and wouldn't have life any other way.

That's a little about me, more will come out over time. If you happen to stumble upon my little blog and have a question, I'm all for answering questions :)

Put Your Dukes Up

Sitting here getting sucked into Duck Dynasty like the rest of my friends and family back home in Kentucky and apparently a large portion of the rest of the country. I've resisted so far but Sailor Man downloaded the first 2 seasons on the xbox so the first ever episode is on and...yup I'm sucked in.

Anywho, today was a blast with Little B. He's absolutely adorable. He's learning so many new things. Like when I say "shake your noggin'," he shakes his noggin'...in the most adorable whole body shake kind of way. Tonight, I had a pen in my hand and he thought it was awesome so naturally I capped it and let him have it. He used it as a drum stick on my side, his feet, and his dipey. Then he ever so naturally mounted his little baby leg on mine stuck the arm with the pen straight out in front in the most noble of knightly ways as to say, "onward men to victory". It.Was.Presh! Presh I tell you! Then he held it out to his side and looked down at his baby biceps and I kid you not, he flexed. Both arms out crooked at the elbow and flexed and looked at his biceps and back at me and back at his muscles. Of course it was something worth repeating to him because I am positively giddy with excitement laughing as loud as I've ever laughed with pure pride and joy at the adorable faces he is making. Then we change his rank dipey and while he's laying on his back he's flailing his arms around like a crazy looney and I say "put your dukes up," and he stops looks at me and puts his little hands into tiny baby fists and tenses up and looks at me so stern. Then he follows with more flailing and we repeat the process and again I'm beside myself with amazement at what my tiny man can do. Will he do it tomorrow...maybe, maybe not but he did it tonight and it's official...he is all boy.

A Quiet Moment to Myself

These are few and far between since having a tiny baby. Well, usually about 5 nights apart now when Sailor Man has duty. He'll be coming home later tonight so I best get out all my jumbled thoughts before then so I can head to bed with him when he does get in.

Just put Little B down for bed a while ago and my precious boy is no fuss no muss once we sing our lullaby and say our prayers. I thank God each and every day for our little boy. He has brought so much joy to our lives and I can't imagine not being his mommy. Even when the screaming for no reason fits set in...I wouldn't have it any other way without him.

The past couple of days have been crazy with him seemingly trying to begin to speak. New sounds are emerging from his tiny mouth and I'm on pins and needles when he gets into his element and just says all of them. I wait ever so impatiently to hear mama or dada come out in the most precious voice ever. He pretty much said daddy today but since I couldn't get him to do it again I told Sailor Man it didn't count ;) He's becoming more and more balanced as we stand him up and let go of him. He'll be walking soon. He's been army crawling for a couple months now and just 2 days ago on the first Sunday we went to our new church he straight out crawled like a big boy all over the place. I thought he was fast on his belly, he's like super man fast on all fours haha!

I'm sitting here with a dopey, lovey, mommy look on my face just thinking about all the sweet and precious things he does every day that no one gets to enjoy like I do. I'll never take for granted the little smiles, happy squeals, batting eye lashes or the "shake your noggin's" he loves to do now. This little boy has my heart wrapped around his tiny little fingers and I have never felt so much love in all my life.

Will Today Be the Day?

Welcome to my tiny corner of the internet. A place where I hope to start hanging out more often to preserve the special memories of what is my life. If you stick around I'm quite certain you'll find out so much about me and my little family. I could go on forever now explaining this and that, but there is no time. I have to get this out there and get a tiny bit started or I will put it off yet again and this little bloggity blog will remain empty forever.

First of all, my sweet little B woke up after 12.5 glorious hours of uninterrupted sleep. He woke up so happy and almost instantly started his new sounds and I almost had a heart attack when he gooed something that sounded a lot like Daddy. That silly boy! Doesn't he know he's a momma's boy and needs to say momma first? Oh well, 8 months old... I'll take whatever he wants to start saying and be the happiest momma on earth! It's all happening so fast! Yesterday after his 2 hour nap which rarely happens anymore he woke up saying new things (well as much as an 8 month old who doesn't say anything can say) new sounds like gigi, and yaya, and didi, and I've noticed the baba and mama almost sounds he was making a few days back are no longer in that mix. On to new and better things I guess. We'll come back to those soon...I hope haha! I wonder if today will be the day I get to hear his first word. I also wonder if today will be the day that I finally get this blog up and going. Who knows where we'll end up if today is the day.
